An antique Indian Lahore carpet. This is a rare Indo-Chinese creation of the interwar period. The sandy field is centered by a circular medallion and is surrounded by a scatter of semi-Chinese motives. The Greek Key fret border is totally in the Chinese style and the main border of rosettes approximates the popular peony frames of Ningxia carpets. Mellow tonality.
