A vintage Persian Malayer runner. A dark slate/charcoal field displays a well-executed village version of the ever-popular Herati pattern used all over Persia and beyond, both eastward and westward. The narrow ivory border shows a chain of ovals with flowerheads. This rug is a bit too shaggy for town Malayers, so a generic Hamadan ascription is more likely.
