Vintage Persian Malayer Runner

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The central column of stems and octagonal blossoms is diagonally supported in left–right alternation, accompanied by paddle-shaped flowers and numerous perching birds. Footed, small, upright botehs edge the charcoal field. A light slate border presents squares of triple florets on stiff stems in an abbreviated tangerine-flower design, with lotuses on trays that mimic palmettes.
