A vintage Persian Malayer runner. The ivory border with its Kurdish version of the widely used “crab” design frames the subtly abrashed light slate field with a pole medallion featuring cartouches and stylized palmettes. A rust outline frame conformably complements the axial structure and small palmettes reinforce the formal structure. This unusual west Persian wide runner is closer to abstract and geometric than to representational and realistic.
