A vintage Persian Malayer runner. The graphite field shows a few charcoal abrash bands while displaying an unusual version of the characteristic Gol Hennai pattern with vertical stems shorn of the usual cream/ecru blossoms. The outlines are often rendered in dark brown, as are the stars-in-crosses of the corners and the progressive flowers of the central border of this mellow-toned west Persian rural kenare (runner).
