Vintage Persian Malayer Throw Rug (Pair: 1 of 2)

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A visual pair to rug # 31986. This example shows how Malayer weavers continually ring changes on the Herati pattern. The grey field features salient bent and serrated dark brown leaves and ecru rosettes, with an almost invisible central column of chevron diamonds. A strip-style sand-straw border frames the field, displaying well-spaced triangular and pentagonal pseudo-palmettes.
