Vintage Persian Malayer Throw Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. A Malayer-specific variation of the Herati design features a brownish slate field, centered by a column of fringed and pointed hexagons, with other Herati elements such as leaves, rosettes, flowers, and small diamonds placed along the sides. A sand-straw border with a faceted or squared meander and Martini glass flowers completes the design.
