A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The beige open field supports an image of an enthroned Persian Achaemenid king, dressed in ceremonial robes and holding a wine cup, with a round sun disk at the upper left. An inscription on the left identifies the sitter. The ecru border displays tilted vases at the corners, along with songbirds, palmettes, buds, and arabesques.
