A vintage Persian Tabriz carpet. This Tabriz carpet copies a type of Kashan popular around 1900. The ‘lyre’ branched foliate motives in the field corners are repeated at a smaller scale in the scalloped medallion. The rust gently lobed subfield has a “book cover” style. The border has a complex array of garden flowers. The tonality is mellow.
