Vintage Persian Tabriz Room Size Carpet

This is a “Vase carpet” pattern lacking vases, although two vasiform plaquettes on the central axis suggest them. Totally round, elliptical, pointed oval and petal palmettes are arranged on a light ogival vinery large lattice. The main border of turtle palmettes, regular palmettes and thick forked vinery strapwork decorate the main border. The motifs are just small enough to give the effect of an allover pattern, but still show plenty of variety.
