Wool symmetric knots on an all-wool foundation. Most vintage Kars pieces tend to be slightly longer than their width, though they aren't true kellegi (long carpets). However, the designs, like this one, often create the illusion of greater length. The abrashed olive-brown field features four nearly complete, rough, wavering octagons, each with an octagon and cross at the center. The weave runs out of loom space for the uppermost medallion, but the weaver squeezes it in anyway. The near-black main border displays small, floating rosette-crosses, even at the much-flattened ends.
