A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Kars lies at the Anatolian point of the Kazak triangle, and in the postwar period the region produced room-size carpets with, as here, predominantly coral red fields and geometric medallion layouts. The pole medallion is composed of three conjoint hexagons in shades of khaki with inner straw-yellow diamonds. Single and triple flowers float in the field. A beige-khaki border features simple palmettes.
