Vintage Turkish Anatolian Pictorial Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. The dark brown to near-black field displays two affronted lions, each with a deeply fringed mane and a human-like face. The left lion is rendered in rust-brown, while the right is ivory or cream, with accents in coral, taupe, gray-green, and dark brown. A border of colorful reciprocal triangles surrounds the field. Originally woven as the face of a yastik, or cushion cover.
