Vintage Turkish Anatolian Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The oatmeal-straw field is divided into two corresponding vertical compartments, each containing three large Memling guls with stepped outlines and internal lozenges; the upper pair is partially truncated by the field’s edge. A herringbone vine separates the two compartments, while smaller geometric devices are scattered throughout. The narrow dark taupe-brown border displays a meandering pattern of four-petaled rosettes and angular S-motifs. Faded blue-gray and ivory accents enliven the otherwise restrained palette. The design clearly reflects Kazak antecedents.
