An antique Caucasian Karabagh carpet. Probably a workshop carpet from Shusha, the Karabagh seat, this softer toned south Caucasian displays an attenuated pole medallion on a noticeably abrashed brown field. The boteh main border and the stepped leaf lattice corners make the Shusha attribution almost certain. These town carpets are the most Persianate of all Caucasian rugs.
