An antique French Aubusson carpet. This tapestry weave flat French carpet has a Baroque (actually 2nd Empire) feel about it with an elongated cusped and pointed pistachio and ivory medallion containing a rose and flower bouquet. The broad border has complex strapwork corner escutcheons. Totally exuberant in a late 19th century way. Needs assertive furniture, nothing retiring or namby-pamby.
