An antique Indian Agra carpet. This is a surprisingly bold open field northern Indian Agra with a powerful ivory hexagonal four-palmette medallion and laterally connected framing ivory corner pieces. The light green-gold field is subtly and attractively abrashed while the wine red main border of rosettes and openwork palmettes provides a sturdy frame. This unusual carpet is a good alternative to a Serapi style open field Heriz or a ‘Hajji Jalili’ Tabriz.
