Antique Persian Afshar Sampler Rug

An antique Persian Afshar Sampler rug. This rare south Persian tribal design sampler  mixes half a characteristic ivory medallion; a  red 10 point half rosette; flower, palmette and rosette scatter fills on red and navy;  and ivory border snippets with  simple leaf designs. An experienced Qashqai weaver could create a number of distinct rugs from this single sampler, reflecting, multiplying and extending the designs as necessary.
