Antique Persian Ardabil Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. While most Ardebils are strongly geometric in a Caucasian manner, this example departs from the norm with a billowing, cloud-like allover pattern on a sand-colored field. A narrow innermost brown line frames the field, followed by a dark brown outer border with reversing fan palmettes. Associated with Ardabil.
