An antique Persian Bidjar carpet. The middle slate field displays an allover design of right-angle arabesque segments, curved two-tone leaves and assorted unusual palmettes, all within a pearl border adorned with dark brown four lobe motives. This carpet, from Bidjar town in Kurdistan in western Persia, is very solidly constructed and will wear well no matter what the context.
