Antique Persian Bidjar Carpet

An antique Persian Bidjar carpet. The deep navy field displays five columns of octofoil stars enclosing palmettes, all in tones of sky blue, red, golden ochre, salmon, cream and reddish sienna. Between are budding rosettes in the allover textile pattern. The abrashed buff border of this very attractive west Persian Kurdish city room size carpet with an incredibly compact texture displays open palmettes on a double rinceau.  All-in-all, an unusual pattern, and a totally genuine carpet.
