An antique Persian Bidjar rug from the early 20th century. There are town Bidjars and village Bidjars, and this is one of the latter with a semi-geometric version of the Mina Khani palmette/rosette trellis, on an attractive madder orange ground. The dark brown border is a rustic version of the “tangerine triple flower” pattern seen all over Persia and even on Afghan Baluch rugs. This is an authentic Kurdish weaving and totally sympathetic to Caucasian rugs.
