The Achaemenid Persian king Xerxes on his throne with a fly whisk bearer behind: originally on a rock tomb relief at the ancient site of Persepolis and now translated with the addition of a wide, rich color palette and artistic details to the pile rug format. A dense cover of cypresses and leaves fill the ecru border of this well-woven SE Persian urban ruglet.
