An antique Persian Kurdish rug. Probably woven near the famous Kurdish rug town of Suj Bulak, the nearly black field is reduced to a diamond lattice of half-drop rows of panels with X-shaped centers, all in tones of teal, navy, buff, rust red, ivory, pale green and medium blue. The inner bitonal curved “running dog” pattern is characteristic of Suj Bulak weavings.
