An antique Persian Lavar Kerman rug. The ivory field of this antique southeast Persian city carpet supports a complex dark blue medallion with broad pendants and a variety of shield, anchor and winged cartouches. The decoration is delineated in a millefleurs style with numerous varieties of real and imaginary flowers. The palette is fairly light, but wide, and there are numerous shades, half-tones and subtle variations among the nearly twenty distinct dye colors.
