An antique Persian Mahal carpet. This almost square Mahal has a blue-black field supporting a five by six allover pattern of octofoils alternating with leaf-bracketed diamonds. Lesser rosettes add a background fill to this antique west Persian village carpet. The red border displays in-and-out alternating Hand-knotted in Persia turtle palmettes.
