Antique Persian Malayer Square Rug

An antique Persian Malayer Square rug. An ivory “head with four enclosed palmettes rises above a bulbous brown “body” with acanthus edges. The sienna brown border features variously colored disjoint rosettes. The pattern is found, much repeated, in large carpets, so is this a sampler or just a weaver’s whim?
