Antique Persian Mashad Carpet

An antique Persian Mashad carpet. A dense pattern of escutcheons, vines and palmettes radiates out from a central sunburst medallion, going right to and under the light brown border frame which is decorated by long ivory cartouches alternating with octofoil rosettes. The border pattern descends for 16^th century Safavid Persian archetypes. The field is a dark brown.
