An antique Persian Mashad carpet. Most NE Persian Mashads are deep wine red, and some are blue, but this one is almost entirely beige and brown, with salient scrolling spiral arabesques dominating thinner flower and leaf-bearing vines. The palette is relaxed and restrained. A few cloud bands have been inserted to remind one of the classical Persian carpet heritage.
