Vintage Persian Shiraz Rug

A vintage Persian Shiraz rug. The scarlet field of this finely woven Fars  Province tribal domestic artefact displays an unusual variant on the universal Herati design, here with four dark blue hooked lozenges, ivory ‘fish’ leaves and some eccentric minor devices. Although the warp is cotton, the barber pole striped edge points toward the Qashqai tribal group.
