An antique Persian Senneh Malayer rug. The name is a confession of ignorance as to the exact source, but the straw-ivory ground with its eight boteh pinwheels is a Senneh trope. The abstract brick border of octagonal cartouches, botehs and small solid boxes is, again, more likely to be Senneh, from western Persian Kurdistan, rather than from Malayer near Hamadan. The pile is short and sandpapery, another Senneh feature.
