An antique Persian Senneh rug. The much-abrashed pearl ground displays a small scale allover classically-rendered Herati design. More innovative is the ivory main border with its bitonal “fingerprint” palmettes in teal; and brick, their similarly patterned split arabesque connectors and the delicate bows in the Bidjar manner. The Bidjar influences are not surprising as both Sennehs and Bidjars are Kurdistan city workshop large carpets.
