The Khamseh are the other major tribal group inhabiting Fars province. Nine variously patterned borders frame a dark blue field with a pole medallion of four edge hooked diamonds surrounded by floating small octagons in the side reserves. The looms that weave these Persian rugs were narrow and as a result, long rugs were the most popular Khamseh creations. Their design repertory extends to saddlebags and scatter rugs as well.
