Antique Persian Tabriz Carpet

An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. There are vases and pots hiding in this laterally symmetric, relatively small scale rendering on a red field of the “Vase carpet” pattern. The fine weave is reflected in the precise and detailed drawing of this NW Persian city carpet.  The navy border displays winged and regular palmettes. The elaboration of the pattern gives it an almost textile-like character.
