An antique Persian Tabriz carpet. The blue-grey field is quite closely ornamented by a version of the Perso-Caucasian Avshan pattern of round and petal rosettes and short ‘gooseneck’ split motives. The ‘Kufic’ border of knots and brackets is also in the Caucasian style. This NW Persian city carpet was woven to go with genuine Caucasian scatters.
