An antique Persian Tabriz Hagi Jalili carpet. This finely woven pre-1900 giant Tabriz comes from the desirable ‘Hajji Jalili’ period and has an all natural dye palette. On the red-brown field is a closely executed pattern of pairs of twin cypresses, coiled and spotted dragons, vases with “umbrellas” and other rug fantasy motives. The brown border alternates palmettes with complete, tall flowers with eight ivory florets. This is a very aristocratic rug for a sophisticated client.
