An antique Persian Mahal carpet. The chocolate field of this oversize west Persian specially commissioned village carpet features the classic Mustafi pattern with knaki spiral leaves and broken foliate wreaths around imaginative one-way palmettes. The horizontal leaves appear almost wing-like, giving the pattern an almost airborne character. The rust main border mixes cruciform, palmettes, and two species of tilted floral devices. A big rug for a particularly grand space. Maybe yours?
