An antique Persian Tabriz rug. The dark blue niche-shaped field displays a central, blossoming ‘Tree of Life’ flanked by tulips, cypresses and bending lesser trees. The red spandrels have a rosette millefleurs pattern. This ruglet comes from the best era of Tabriz carpet weaving, the ‘Hajji Jalili’ period in the late 19th century.
