An antique Persian Tabriz rug. A brown diamond lattice with five by ten cells forms the unusual pattern of this Persian town carpet. Each ivory or tan unit has a floral quatrefoil as center. Stencil-style palmettes and floral devices decorate the narrow ivory main border. This Tabriz is definitely outside the familiar design trends of the area and was probably a special order with a bespoke design.
