Antique Senneh Malayer Rug

An antique Senneh Malayer rug. A super-bold powder blue border with angular turtle palmettes and accents in ecru, rust, and brick frames the finely-delineated Herati-derived allover textile pattern on the abrashed pale blue-grey ground. The field/border contrast in scale is particularly striking. The single weft weave is closer to the rougher Senneh style rather than to the evener Malayer manner, hence the fudged attribution of this unique west Persian village room size carpet.
