Vintage Persian Malayer Rug

A vintage Persian Malayer rug. The sand border of ragged, pyramidal palmettes makes a distinctive frame for the subdued light brown field of this west Persian Dozar scatter with its allover pattern of tilted rhomboids, jagged leaves, and geometric palmettes. Dark brown accents the octagons and rosettes along the field edges and plays a lesser role towards the center. Another example of visually advancing borders and receding fields.
