A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The ecru ground of this borderless ruglet depicts Nader Shah Afshar (r. 1736-1747), King of Persia, in bust-length, holding a dagger and wearing a fur-trimmed coat and the imperial crown with points and plumes. The deftly placed cannon references his martial exploits. An identifying nastaliq inscription appears at the top right.
