An antique Turkish Oushak carpet. The Yaprak (Leaf) and ragged palmette design also appears on more muted, softly colored western Turkish workshop Oushak large carpets, as evidenced here by a closely set triple column arrangement on an oatmeal, buff and yellow ivory field with color-matched rosette borders. The pattern originated in Smyrna in the 18th century.
