Antique Turkish Oushak Rug

An antique Turkish Oushak rug. An ivory elliptical medallion with a sawtooth edge displays floral pendants virtually en-suite with the tulip motives of the corners, all on the soft rust field. ‘Oushak’ rugs of the early 20th century, as here, were woven both in Oushak and in Smyrna, in eastern Turkey.
