An antique Ukrainian Bessarabian carpet. From Greater Russia, these flatwoven carpets are perennial design favorites. Here the ivory field displays an allover repeat of cruciforms and broken lozenges, alternating with rows of abstract leaf elements. The yellow border has a particularly attractive undulating leafy tendril with pendant palmettes. This size is quite rare for Bessarabians, which tend to be larger, and this makes it decoratively versatile.
