An antique Ukrainian Bessarabian carpet. This Russian 19th-century creation is semi-pictorial with a medium blue field centered by a depiction of a mother and her two children, one playing a stringed instrument, one dancing, under a leafy pergola. Baskets bearing floral bouquets accent each end of the field.  A narrow open floral border frames the whole. Charm and folk art in a light palette.
