A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This semi-pictorial carpet presents a rust field with three offset rows, each comprising six vases holding flowering branches in shades of light blue, ecru, and straw. The blue vases are wider than the others, though all share the same height. A prominent inner border features tilted frets, while another major stripe shows floating rosettes on rust. A plain rust outer surround completes the design. The decorative use of vases is a well-established Khotan design trope, here rendered on an unusually large scale.
