Modern Turkish Flatweave

This recent two-piece, weft pattern, wool faced pileless rug shows a randomly fringed advancing straw center bleeding into receding near black sides. Optical illusion: does the light center push out into the sides, or do the darker sides attempt to close over the center? This random color fringing is a recent innovation in Persian weaving and works with flatweaves rather than pile carpets which lose the spontaneity. As new condition.
