Vintage Persian Gabbeh Pictorial Rug

A vintage Persian Gabbeh Pictorial rug. A very abstract golden yellow lion glares out from the green and blue sectioned field. A plain white border frames the amusing feline. This is a great rug for a child’s room if you can get it away from the entranced adults! This is a double-sided rug with a pattern of squares in a darker palette. Two rugs for the price of one! Double-sided rugs are relatively rare, but their insulating properties are obvious. The weavers work on two sides of a vertical loom, advancing in alternating rows front and back. Double-sided rugs cannot be woven on a flat (ground) looms.
