Vintage Persian Mahal Carpet

A vintage Persian Mahal carpet. With another unnamed pattern, this Arak district carpet possesses a dark brown field rather closely covered by repeats of jagged acanthus leaves around large rosettes. There are nearly three columns of this unusual, possibly unique design. Stiff stems, frilly leaves and a variety of vegetal forms complete the field while a narrow mustard border with rosettes and tiny leaves acts as a frame.
